Our firm’s management team:
David J. Maher is an authority on medical management, private company management and retirement and estate planning. Since leaving the international accounting and consulting firm of Deloitte & Touche LLP in 1984, he has positioned the Firm as the regional leader in advising medical groups, construction companies, closely-held businesses and individuals. Through niche marketing, the firm has sustained annual double-digit growth with an ever-expanding client base.
Mr. Maher is past president of the National CPA Health Care Advisors Association, which provides management strategies to the health care industry and served on its Executive Committee for seven years. He has spoken to numerous health care associations and companies regarding the many issues facing this ever-changing industry, including the AICPA Practitioners Symposium on current healthcare issues.
He served on the Algonquin Golf Club Board of Directors for six years and had the pleasure of serving as its President in 2011.
Mr. Maher is a 1982 graduate of Western State College. He is a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants and Missouri Society of Certified Public Accountants.
Steven L. Meyer has had overall responsibility for audit and assurance services at Maher & Co. since 1996. Prior to joining Maher & Co., Mr. Meyer spent eleven years as an executive of the international accounting and consulting firm of Deloitte & Touche LLP and also served as the chief financial officer of a construction company. At Deloitte, he served on that firm’s national construction industry services steering committee and had quality control responsibility within the audit practice.
Mr. Meyer wrote instructional chapters in the Handbook of Accounting and Auditing, a reference book used by certified public accountants across the country. His experience as a chief financial officer has given him business experience and perspective few certified public accountants acquire. He formerly served on the Minority Business Committee of the Associated General Contractors of America. He is a member of American Institute of Certified Public Accountants and the Missouri Society of Certified Public Accountants.
David A. Guess began his career in public accounting in 1988 and has extensive experience with financial institutions, distribution and service company clients. He has led the Firm’s specialty in aligning our client’s use of technology with their operational plans to achieve their business objectives. He leads our information technology affiliate, Continuum Technology Group.
David is a board member of Kingdom House a not-for-profit organization that provides a variety of services, childcare, food & clothing assistance, job training, youth and teen programs and Senior Companions, to help thousands yearly to achieve self-sufficiency and gain economic independence.
He is also a past president of the Community Bank Advisors Network, a nationwide network of CPA’s that specialize in services provided to community banks.
Mr. Guess received his B.S. from the University of Missouri. He is a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants and Missouri Society of Certified Public Accountants.
Kenneth M. Mesnier is the taxation services shareholder of Maher & Co. He has over 16 years of public accounting experience specializing in providing taxation and consulting services to a wide spectrum of clients, including closely-held businesses and high net worth individuals. Types of services include: corporate, partnership and individual tax planning and compliance, mergers and acquisitions, compensation planning, financial planning, research, estate taxation and planning, IRS representation, multi-state taxation, and sales/use taxation.
Ken received his Bachelor of Science in Accounting from Truman State University. He is a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants and Missouri Society of Certified Public Accountants.
Mr. Mesnier has overall responsibility for taxation services at Maher & Co., ensuring client expectations are met or exceeded at all times.
